By now you should have received in the mail your annual packet of information from the Stewardship Committee. Our campaign theme is “Together in Spirit”, because as Pastor Karyn said in her pastoral letter, these are the truest words we can say about our good church in this time. A year ago we followed the Spirit out of our building, and then we followed again with creativity and innovation to make new connections and strengthen the ties that have always bound us together in love. Some of those connections were virtual, and others used older means like greeting cards and telephone calls.
As we look ahead, we can imagine building on those connections in both our traditional gatherings and in more new ways. Our giving is an investment in technology that extends our welcome, a refreshed and even more rooted sense of mission, and a renewed spirit of gratitude for the ways our buildings and grounds are gifts to be used in the service of extending God’s love and justice to all our neighbors.
We hope the packet provides you with the information you need to prayerfully consider an annual financial pledge to the church. We will add to that information with additional articles and stewardship speakers in the coming weeks. We encourage early pledging so that there is sufficient time to plan what more we can do together in Spirit, and then prepare for the Annual Meeting. Plan to tune in after worship on May 2 to ask your budget and pledging questions of our church treasurer Jeff VanGilder, and please return your pledges before Giving Sunday, May 16, when we look forward to hosting a special Covid-safe celebration of our collective commitments.
