Generous donations through this Advent's giving tree are already brightening the lives of many in our wider community. Cash donations by the deadline totaled $5,085, plus we received physical donations of three electric blankets and six $25 Safeway gift cards. Volunteers have already delivered Safeway gift cards for families in need at five area schools and purchased Christmas gifts for children and youth whose families rely on the free Saturday lunch in White Center. Remaining funds will benefit Afghan refugees and further equip residents of Camp Second Chance for cold weather.
The Homelessness Task Force coordinated this project for the congregation and Fauntleroy YMCA, and children in our Sunday school helped made the gift tags that hung on trees in the narthex and church/Y lobby.
