Easter - What a Wonderful Day it Was!

A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers who participated in making our celebration of Easter (and Good Friday before it) rich and full in all the ways it could be this year! It was lovely to welcome Easter morning live with Alki UCC and their Bridge Pastor, Rev. Louis Mitchell, alongside Pastor Leah, Pastor Karyn, Sarah and Ben Ackers. Joy was plentiful and music amazing in our 10 AM worship service thanks to the contributions of many (thanks for your coordination and magic, Bron!) After worship, safe, distanced fellowship was life-giving both in our online coffee hour and on the actual church grounds for several hours after worship.

On that point, we had 21 children participate in-person for the two egg hunts sponsored by our youth group for our church children and friends (10 in the first group and 11 in the second). Nine youth gathered with Pastor Leah after Palm Sunday to stuff Easter eggs for the hunt. Five regathered Easter morning to hide eggs and facilitate the two hunts. As the egg hunts commenced, members and friends came and went to add to the flower cross and take family pictures. What was supposed to be a rainy day turned out to be sunny and beautiful, and there were so many smiles (masks were on, but we could see the smiles in people’s eyes) as everyone visited with those who happened to be around when they were. A feeling of Easter's new life springing forth was definitely prevalent!
