Camp Residents Find Blankets Under Giving Tree

Thanks to the congregation's Christmas spirit, the 52 tiny-home residents of Camp Second Chance are now sleeping much warmer.

Veteran tiny-home volunteer Barb Oliver. suggested electric blankets as "tags" on this year's virtual giving tree and our Homelessness Task Force readily concurred.  In mid November, Judy Pickens found a great sale price on twin blankets and ordered them, trusting that enough donations would come in to offset the cost.

On Nov. 22, Phil Sweetland stuffed his truck with the 55 blankets, including three for residents who might arrive over the winter.  At the camp's next weekly meeting, each resident got to select a color and also take home a holiday card handwritten by Stevi Hamill, Karyn Frazier, and Leah Atkinson Bilinski on behalf of the congregation.

Donations to the giving tree are due Dec. 15.  Find details at www.fauntleroyucc.org/congregator-posts/virtual-giving-tree-sunday-nov-29-tuesday-dec-15-2020-e5422
