INTERESTED IN AN ANTI-RACISM LENTEN JOURNEY? Many of you have said you’d like more resources to support your personal anti-racism work. I wanted to make you aware of a course that looked interesting offered by the Damascus Project called “40-Day Lenten Practice: Strengthening Emotional Stamina to Counter White Fragility”.
The course is $50 and the registration deadline is Feb. 12. (If seven or more people want to sign up, the church could cover the cost for a group rate. Let Pastor Karyn know by Feb 7th if you are interested.)
Traditionally, Lent is a time for self-reflection and transformation. Some know it as a time to give something up, but it can also be a time of taking on something new. In these times, it should mean both in our anti-racist work: unlearning whiteness and developing staying power to be in the work for racial justice for the long haul. Those are the goals of the Damascus Project’s “40-Day Lenten Practice: Strengthening Emotional Stamina to Counter White Fragility”.
Their course description says that when you register, you receive:
A digital workbook for the core 40-day practice
Access to four online workshops (participate live or view recordings on your own time):
Tuesdays, 4:00-5:30 p.m. PST, February 16, March 2, March 16, March 30
An online community for ongoing reflection on your personal experience
The course is $50 per person and the registration deadline is Feb. 12. Does this sound like something that would enrich your Lenten journey?
According to the Damascus Project website: The Damascus Project “equips lay leaders, spiritual seekers, members in discernment, and clergy to navigate a changing world and a changing church.” To learn more about the course and the Damascus Project, you can go here.
