Advent Devotional 2021 "Holy Darkness, Blessed Night"

Last Year's Home-Spun Devotional was so well received by all of you that the Worship Ministry has decided to produce another one again this year. Beginning today October 18th we will be sending out a group of writing prompts each Monday (Oct 25th, Nov 1st and Nov 8th). Take a look at the questions and send us your stories and reflections. You can choose to write about one question or all of them, you do not have to be a professional writer, just respond to the prompts that speak to your heart or evoke some special memory that you would like to share. The reason that the Devotional was so well received last year was because it was personal & meaningful. Please send your responses to the prompts to Carolyn Tucker at deanocarolyn@gmail.com. Please keep in mind that we have a deadline of November 14th to have everything assembled and ready for printing. So, while we realize that creativity can take time we also would appreciate getting your writing as soon as possible. Thank you for helping to make Advent 2021 special!

1. Share a Christmas-time experience where your pace slowed and the presence of the Divine made itself known to you. Think expansively about that term Divine and the presence of God, for God comes to us in all kinds of ways.

2. Paint a picture for us (with your words) of an ideal Christmas Moment that you’ve experienced and a hard Christmas Moment you experienced and how you felt the presence of God in each

3. In this Season of longer, darker days, when and how do you find joy?

4. During Advent, have you ever received a surprise? Perhaps getting a Christmas card from someone with whom you've been out of touch? Or, you paused to notice something you weren’t expecting? What was meaningful about this surprise? How did it make you feel?

5. How are Surprises Portrayed in the Christmas Story? How do you feel About Christmas-time surprises?

6. When and How do you sense the presence of God most? In the Darkness, In the Light?
