Dear Parents,
Thanks to all of the kids who have joined us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 on ZOOM for Sunday School for Lent. This is our last Lenten gathering for kids because we are on the last steps of our Lenten journey: Holy Week, which begins with Palm Sunday. Next week, Easter Sunday will be on-line for the whole family to worship and celebrate together at 10AM. (Stay tuned for news from our Christian Ed. Ministry about more Sunday School classes to come…)
Every ZOOM Sunday School time has been different, and this one will be special because it is Palm Sunday. All are welcome even if it is for the first time! Look for the link in the Highlights. If your child joins us, have the “Holy Week in a Box” kit on hand. It’s in your Lent at Home bag. If you don’t have one, no worries! I can get one to you if you’d like. Just email me or Jackie. Or see the attachment for one way to make one at home. With this symbol we’ll learn a way to tell the whole Holy Week story in our own words from the high “Hosannas!” of Palm Sunday to the low sadness of Good Friday to the highest mystery and surprise of Easter! Thanks to Sarah Ackers and Bill Zoellner for leading this week.
And…we invite you to experience the whole arc of Holy Week, too!
Join us for a drive-thru palm (or anything green) parade after worship at the church this Sunday at about 11:30! Bring something green to wave out your car window and join the crowd to celebrate (safely, distanced, masked) communion with Pastors Leah and Karyn.
Also, set aside time on Good Friday at 7PM for a sacred and moving worship of prayer, readings, music, candlelight, and the tolling of the bells. Look for the link in the Highlights.
On Easter, join Pastor Leah and Naomi for an Easter egg hunt! Plan on 12:00 PM for ages 0-5 and 1:00 PM for ages 6 and up. Come for a short, distanced, and masked time of fun. Bring a basket or bag. Parents need to stay with their children/grandchildren to supervise.
If you come for the egg hunt or even earlier after worship, bring a flower to put in the Easter cross! We’ll have it out front of the church and hope to see an Easter transformation!
See the blog and the Thursday Highlights for more details about these and other wonderful ways to experience this holy season.
Peace on this tender part of our journey,
Rev. Karyn Frazier
