This Sunday, we will celebrate Children’s Sabbath, which is an annual worship in the UCC, across many faiths, and across the country, that gives special focus to the welfare of children in our care as families, the Church, our community, and the nation. The Rev. Traci Blackmon, the Executive Minister of Justice & Witness Ministries of the United Church of Christ, has often mentioned that a traditional greeting among the Masai people, who live in parts of Kenya and Tanzania, asks, “How are the children?” Rev. Blackmon says that because they believe the welfare of their children is an indication of the health of their nation, even Masai warriors with no children of their own would always give the traditional answer, "All the children are well.” This means life is good, peace and safety prevail, the priorities of protecting the young and the powerless are in place. Can we say the same?
Join us this Sunday, when we’ll invite some of our youth to help lead us in worship and to remind us of our responsibility to create a world in which our answer will be “All the children are well: well fed, well housed, well cared for in mind and body and spirit, well educated, well and safe in a society that believes in justice and compassion, and well loved.”
As usual, we'll be worshiping on Zoom webinars. Please register in advance, and a link to join the webinar will be emailed to you. We ask for registration in advance for reasons of security, knowledge of with whom we are worshiping and necessary planning toward subscription adjustments based on numbers joining the webinar. When you register, you can sign up for multiple Sundays, all the way through November. You can also watch the service on the Fauntleroy Church YouTube channel.
You can watch the service via Zoom webinars by registering in advance here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_FJH89Ir6R_O4x7frUWeXhw (an email link to connect will be sent from Zoom after registering), or plan to watch on our Fauntleroy Church YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/fauntleroychurchUCC.
PRAYER REMINDER: During this Sunday’s worship, if you have joys or concerns you’d like lifted up, you can share those by emailing Pastor Karyn ([karyn@fauntleroyucc.org][1]) or Pastor Leah ([leah@fauntleroyucc.org][2]) in advance or texting Bron on Sunday morning. You can also add prayer requests to the “chat” in the ZOOM webinar during Sunday worship.
If you need help accessing the virtual worship services on Zoom, please contact Sarah Ackers by Friday afternoon. She will find someone to assist you.”
