Special Volunteer Opportunity - West Seattle Helpline

West Seattle Helpline is a nonprofit social service agency offering temporary emergency assistance to West Seattle neighbors. We are looking for volunteers interested in supporting community service events or in serving on the Board of directors.

Second and Fourth Wednesdays - White Center Food Bank

The food bank has moved from the "cozy" basement of St. James Lutheran Church to its own space across from the Health Center at 10829 8th Ave SW. Community members who come to the food bank now have a dry waiting room, there is actual storage space (imagine that!) and people can move around without having to dodge shopping carts. We’ve had lots of fresh produce to hand out, donated by the community stores and green grocers.

You have a chance to help with the goings on of the food bank by joining in on the volunteer effort on the 2nd and/or the 4th Wednesday of each month. Time is 5:45 until 8ish (or whatever you can do). Together with the 34th District Democrats and Kiwanis, the continued support of Fauntleroy UCC allows the food bank to open for these two nights a month. It's fun with some good hard work thrown in! Thanks to all who support and help in whatever way.
